Yesterday morning Villasatu, Niinushka, Deb and I set out bright and early and headed out to Tampere to visit the biggest craft fair in Finland. It was a fun day and of course we bought yarn!

Villasatu, Niinushka, Deb ja minä suuntasimme eilen reippaasti aamulla Tampereelle kädentaitomessuille. Lankaahan siellä tuli ostettua:

Noro Silk Garden. Nothing new here – I just fell madly in love with the jewel tones of colourway 211 (on the left). The ones on the right are 234, to complement the brighter tones in the form of a Noro Striped Scarf which the Man Of My Life saw in Ravelry and fell in love with. (Note to self: It’s dangerous to let men loose in Ravelry. They get all sorts of ideas, and then one has to knit them and – gasp – perhaps even buy more yarn! What a terrible fate indeed!) He wants it bright and colourful, and I’m pretty sure these colourways are going to do the trick!

Vanhaa kunnon Noron Silk Gardeniahan siinä. Ihastuin värin 211 (kuvassa vasemmalla) kirkkaisiin jalokivisävyihin niin, että pakko oli ostaa. Oikeanpuolimmaiset ovat 234:tä, ja yhdessä näistä tulee Noro Striped Scarf, johon taas mies vuorostaan ihastui Ravelryssä. (On muuten vaarallista päästää miehiä irralleen Ravelryssä. Saavat siellä kaikenlaisia ideoita, joita joutuu sitten neulomaan ja – kauhistus – pahimmassa tapauksessa ostamaan lankaakin! Hirmuinen Kohtalo on se.) Mies haluaa huivista värikkään, ja eiköhän se näillä onnistu.

I also got one ball of colourway 47 that I already had in my stash but perhaps not quite enough for a decent scarf. I love this colourway with its subtle shades of steel, silver, chocolate and camel.

Half an hour later we rushed back to buy more Noro – I got a sudden urge to get some of 211 for myself as well. Just look at these colours:

Ostin myös yhden kerän 47:ää, jota minulla oli jo ennestään mutta ei ehkä sittenkään ihan tarpeeksi huivia varten. Nyt on. Tämä on minusta yksi Silk Gardenin kauneimmista sävyistä: teräksenharmaata, hopeanharmaata, tummaa suklaata ja kamelinruskeaa.

Puoli tuntia myöhemmin säntäsimme takaisin samalle ständille ostamaan lisää Noroa. Oli sittenkin saatava tuota 211:tä itselle myös. Siis katsokaa nyt:

Toika’s Merino Lux was a more exotic find for me although it’s a Finnish yarn. It’s 50% merino wool and 50% tencel, has beautiful colours and a lovely sheen. There are 225g and 1,279m on a cone. I got two different shades, Grapejelly and Plum.

Eksoottisempia löytöjä messuilla edusti Toikan Merino Lux, 50 % merinoa ja 50 % tenceliä. Upeat värit ja ihana, himmeä kiilto. Kartiolla on lankaa 225 g ja 1 279 metriä. Ostin kahta väriä, Grapejellyä ja Plumia.

And finally, some Drops Alpaca. This yarn is immensely popular in Finland, so it’s a bit odd that I haven’t tried it yet. Got 4 balls of dark heathered red that will make a nice, warm stole for me, and some black and heathered grey that I thought I might knit double-stranded to make a hat for my love.

Sokerina pohjalla Dropsin Alpacaa, vihdoinkin. On jotenkin outoa, että en ole koskaan kokeillut tätä lankaa, vaikka kaikki sitä kehuvat. No, kohta pääsen kokeilemaan! Ostin 4 kerää meleerattua tummanpunaista itselleni ja 2 kerää mustaa + 2 kerää tummanharmaata, joista ajattelin tehdä kaksinkertaisena pipon miehelle.

Oli hauskat messut ja tuttuihinkin törmättiin. Vilkutuksia kaikille uusille ja vanhoille tutuille! Ensi vuonna uudestaan!
